Reid Dismisses $54Billion in Tort Reform

October 28, 2009 - By administrator

SENATE MAJORITY LEADER HARRY REID (D-NV): He talked about CBO saying that there would be $54 billion saved each year if we put caps on medical malpractice and put some restrictions — tort reform — $54 billion. Sounds like a lot of money, doesn’t it, Mr. President? The answer is yes. But remember, we’re talking about $2 trillion, $54 billion compared to $2 trillion. You can do the math. We can all do the math. It’s a very small percent.

And your point is? The deficit is about 10% of GDP which is less than it was in 1945 when it was over 20% of GDP. So why are you so concerned over a $2 TRILLION deficit? Typical republican shill to use facts selectively and distort the issues. Did you ever think that $2 TRILLION is what has been wasted on the reckless and unnecessary Iraq war that you republican shills justified through distortions and outright lies. Lie and distort. That’s all you have. No wonder less than 30% say they are republicans.

I’m not a Republican, and I don’t support the Iraq War. I’m concerned over any deficit, even if it’s $20.
